Advocacy

When a dispute arises, Wragge & Co's full-service dispute resolution practice can advise clients on the full range of options available. However, if litigation is the best option, the firm's specialist Advocacy team includes litigators experienced in all courts and tribunals.

In much the same way as barristers, solicitor advocates with higher rights of audience represent clients in hearings before all courts in England and Wales. With a wealth of advocacy experience across all sectors, the team's expertise ensures clients have the choice when it comes to instructing a solicitor advocate or external counsel.

Handling civil matters including direction hearings, interim applications, trials and cost hearings, Wragge & Co's team of experienced advocates represent all levels of seniority, providing clients with first-rate advocacy at a cost-effective rate.

Part of the firm's dispute resolution practice, the dedicated Advocacy team is supported by 185 lawyers across the firm. As one of the largest dispute resolution capabilities of its kind in the UK, all dispute resolution lawyers are trained in advanced advocacy, ensuring they are capable of handling all types of interim applications. This unique skill enables them to see the bigger picture, focusing on the issues and evidence which will be key to success at trial.

Led by experienced advocate Nicholas Cobill, the team regularly appears in the County Court, High Court, Commercial Court, Administrative Court, the Technology & Construction Court and the Chancery and Bankruptcy Court. Experts specialising in health, safety and regulatory matters also represent clients in criminal proceedings in the Magistrates' and Crown Courts.

Wragge & Co's advocates have represented major UK and international organisations including the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Enterprise Inns, British Airways and HSBC.
