The Provision of Service Regulations 2009 (Regulations) are due to come into force on the 28 December 2009. The Regulations implement the Services Directive (2006/123/EC) into the UK and affects almost all businesses that provide services within the European Economic Area (EEA) (i.e. EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).

The Regulations aim is to ensure that providers of services within the EEA are given a level playing field when operating in other European jurisdictions, which should benefit UK businesses wishing to expand into the EEA market. The bulk of the legislation impact will lie with regulatory and state bodies, but there are also a number of obligations imposed on businesses.

Wragge & Co's experts provide further guidance on the Reguations.
