Wragge & Co people have voted Over The Wall as the firm's Charity of the Year 2010.
Since 1999, Over The Wall have been running residential camps in the UK for seriously ill children aged 8-17 in the Easter and summer holidays. The camps allow approximately 400 children a year to get involved in a range of activities including kayaking, horse riding and arts & crafts, providing them with an opportunity to build their confidence and make new friends. Many children with serious illnesses lose out on the childhood experiences many of us take for granted as they are in and out of hospital for many months or even years, enduring painful operations and treatments. The camps allow them a chance to really enjoy themselves and lets them know that they are not tackling their illness alone. All camps are provided entirely free of charge to the children and their families.
Head of Corporate responsibility, Lorna Gavin says, " Our charity of the year relationship is an important part of our wider community investment programme and we're delighted to be working with Over The Wall in 2010. We are planning a packed year of fundraising and volunteering events to put the full weight of Wragge & Co's single team behind Over The Wall's work. We have been impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the team at Over The Wall and we look forward to helping them achieve their goals and supporting the important work they are doing in 2010".
Nikki Radcliffe, Head of Development at Over The Wall says, "We are very excited that Wragge & Co have chosen us as their charity partner for 2010. The wider impact of the relationship will undoubtedly be the raised awareness of our work highlighting the importance of supporting the children, not only during their treatment but helping them to reintegrate back into everyday life with their friends and family to reduce the isolation often felt following a serious illness."
Over The Wall have five camps across the UK planned this year, in Shropshire, Scotland and Dorset, including a camp for the siblings of the seriously ill children. As Over The Wall covers all costs associated with the week long camps, Wragge & Co fundraising will contribute to making the camps possible and facilitating the organisation of reunion days and contact after the camp.
Wragge & Co will support Over The Wall throughout the year through cash and in-kind contributions. A wide range of fundraising events are planned, including a recipe book, a gig with the ever popular Wragge & Co partner line up, a sponsored run and the return of last year's quiz.
