Wragge & Co is committed to reducing its environmental impact – both at a firmwide level through our central decision-making and operational processes, and at an individual level through encouraging positive behaviour change among our people.
Our major environmental impacts are energy use, consumption of materials e.g. paper, and transport emissions. These areas have informed the priorities of our environmental policy.
In addition to complying with all environmental, legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to our business, our priorities within our environmental policy are to:
- Seek to maximise efficiency and minimise consumption in areas including energy usage, paper usage and waste reduction;
- Raise awareness among our staff of climate change and empower them to take action both at work and in their local communities to identify and reduce their impact on the environment, including their individual carbon footprint;
- Engage with key strategic suppliers to discuss the environmental impact of their operations, with a view to working in partnership to reduce consumption, emissions and waste in the supply chain;
- Ensure that environmental considerations are taken into consideration in our purchasing policy wherever reasonably practicable;
- Engage with our clients, suppliers and community partners to promote environmental best practice;
- Calculate our carbon footprint on a bi-annual basis and publish that calculation on our website and in our corporate responsibility report;
- Publish targets for the ongoing improvement of our environmental performance and report progress against those targets periodically.
Our Head of Corporate Responsibility, Lorna Gavin, has responsibility for the firm's environmental policy and reports directly to the firm's senior partner Quentin Poole. She also chairs our central Eco team, charged with the ongoing review and development of environmental initiatives across the business. Implementation of those initiatives is supported by a network of eco champions across the firm.
Our Eco team will review and update this policy on an annual basis. Our Corporate Responsibility team will review progress against environmental targets and report on that progress accordingly.
