Best brains in ...
Advising on environmental issues in transactions including creative solutions when parties to transactions are at a deadlock, lecturing to audiences on environmental issues and providing rapid due diligence.
Highlight of your career so far?
Acting for GKN plc on property and environmental aspects in the £1billion sale of its interest in the military helicoptor facility in Yeovil. Another highlight was dealing with the environmental aspects of the £182 million sale of Premier Foods' Canned Grocery Operations to Princes Limited.
Most challenging job you've ever done?
The work I completed for GKN plc was challenging and involved spending nearly three weeks in London living out of a suitcase and working 18-hour days.
What about outside the UK?
Outside of the UK I've been involved in numerous projects. One that stands out is project Wolverine, involving a US car parts manufacturer and a £500m cross-jurisdiction acquisition. I've also acted for a large galvanising company in relation to the acquisitions of a large number of sites across Europe.
What's your definition of going the extra mile?
Exceeding client expectations - in my case this means providing advice that could save the client large amounts of money and (as required) producing novel drafting to do so.
When have you ever given a client a real competitive edge?
Usually in all-parties meetings when you need to demonstrate not only to your client but also to the others in the room that you know what you are talking about.
How do you get under the skin of a client's business?
Communication with clients is everything - and preferably face-to-face rather than any other form of communication. It is very dangerous to second-guess what clients' commercial drivers are.
What's your single greatest contribution to Wragge & Co's corporate responsibility?
Riding a bicycle from Birmingham to Barcelona and from Calais to Marseille for SENSE.
What's been written or said about you that you're most proud of?
One client said about me: 'A dream to work with and never fails to impress'. I've also been described as 'energetic and highly motivated'.
