Wragge & Co names regulatory litigation specialist as newest partner
18.03.09
Wragge & Co LLP has promoted regulatory litigation specialist Andrew Litchfield to its partnership. The appointment, which takes effect from 1 May, sees Andrew become the firm's 11th commercial litigation partner.
Senior partner Quentin Poole said: "Andrew is an excellent lawyer whose clients appreciate his assured and practical approach to complex and high-pressure situations. Organisations face an unprecedented amount of regulation and need legal advisers they can trust to respond quickly and effectively. Andrew's promotion provides additional partner-level capability to this growing area."
Andrew joined Wragge & Co as a trainee, qualifying into the firm's Dispute Resolution group. Since then he has worked alongside regulatory litigation partner Susan Dearden, enhancing Wragge & Co's reputation for fast, effective advice on health and safety, environmental pollution, food safety and trading standards prosecutions.
Andrew Litchfield said: "Increased regulation means increased risk. Add in penalties which include criminal sanctions or huge fines, and it is clear why regulatory issues are high on the list of concerns for our major corporate clients. These clients need experts, experienced in advising on both prevention and cure, which is where our Regulatory Litigation team can help."
Wragge & Co's seven-lawyer Regulatory Litigation team provides advice and support on all aspects of health & safety and contentious environmental issues to major corporates, insurers, local authorities and other public bodies.
Its experts are part of the firm's 250-lawyer full-service dispute resolution capability. With specialists in contract and commercial, construction, mediation and arbitration, regulatory, IT, professional negligence, insurance, finance, employment, IP, pensions and property litigation, this is one of the largest dispute resolution resources in the UK.
