Wragge & Co named Pension Lawyers of the Year

Wragge & Co has been named Pension Lawyers of the Year at the UK Pensions Awards 2010. Facing competition from Allen & Overy, CMS Cameron McKenna, Eversheds, Outer Temple Chambers and Sackers, Wragge & Co won the award at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Head of pensions Glyn Ryland said: "It takes a big team effort to win awards like this. We work together with our clients as part of their team, providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice so that they can make the right decisions under pressure. We aim to be at the top table for pensions law advice and this award shows we are on the right track."

Sponsored by Professional Pensions, the 13th annual UK Pensions Awards recognise and celebrate continuous and ongoing improvement in the industry. The judges looked at four main areas including innovation, communication, performance and service standards.

The award caps off a successful 12 months for the Pensions team in which it celebrated its 35th anniversary and secured a number of high-profile new clients. These include the trustees of the £220 million Biffa Pension Scheme, trustee of the £1 billion Thales UK Pension Scheme and the £1.05 billion G4S Pension Scheme. Pensions director and head of the six-lawyer Public Sector Pensions team Paul Carberry has also been promoted to partner as of 1 May.
