Wragge & Co wins Pensions Law Firm title

06.05.10

Wragge & Co has secured its second award title in the space of two weeks, winning the Pensions Law Firm category at the Pension & Investment Provider Awards UK 2010. The team saw off strong competition from Norton Rose, Hammonds, Nabarro, Eversheds, Sackers, CMS Cameron McKenna and Lovells to take the title.

Head of pensions Glyn Ryland said: "An incredible achievement for the whole team. We're a relationship-focused team and we could not win awards like these without clients supporting us, working with us in establishing long-term relationships and entrusting us with highly innovative and 'mission critical' projects. Our side of the bargain is investing heavily in those relationships and always giving real advice: coming off the fence, even on the most difficult issues. To be recognised with two major industry titles in one year demonstrates we're consistently hitting the right note across the whole team."

Sponsored by Pensions Week and Pensions Management, the awards recognise excellent service delivery by providers to UK occupational pension schemes. Judges selected winners based on four key criteria, including performance, innovation, service standards and competitive edge.

The award follows the team's success at last month's UK Pensions Awards 2010, when it was named Pension Lawyers of the Year. Both awards round off a busy and successful 12 months for the team. At the beginning of this month Paul Carberry, head of the six-lawyer Public Sector Pensions team, was appointed to partner. The team also celebrated its 35th anniversary at the end of last year following a series of high-profile new client wins, such as advising the trustees of the £1 billion Thales UK Pensions Scheme and the trustees of the £1.05 billion G4S Pensions Scheme.

Wragge & Co's 41-lawyer Pensions team advises employers and pensions trustees on a full range of contentious, non-contentious and investment matters. Led by seven partners, the team also works closely with industry bodies such as the Pensions Protection Fund and the Pensions Regulator. The specialised eight-lawyer CHRS team, which combines employment and pensions expertise, is the only one of its kind in the UK.
