Wragge & Co has appointed nine new directors, strengthening its credentials in core and key growth practice areas. According to senior partner Quentin Poole, the promotions underline the firm's commitment to providing clients with high-quality, full-service advice.
Representing a mix of specialist practice areas, the promotions take the total number of Wragge & Co directors to 38. They are Gareth Baker (corporate), Helen Emmerson (real estate), Richard Goold (corporate), Samantha Holland (commercial litigation), Nisha Jassal (real estate), Julia McNaught (residential development), Jamie Rowlands (IP), Dan Smith (IP - advertising and marketing) and Gus Wood (energy and regulation).
Quentin Poole said: "Reflecting our commitment to outstanding full-service advice, the promotions are an investment in high-calibre lawyers with the drive and ambition to help take the firm forward. With seven of the nine new directors joining the firm as trainees, the appointments also highlight the quality of our home-grown talent. Each has demonstrated a commitment to stand-out client service, an ability to take a commercial and innovative approach to their work and a track record in winning high-value and high-profile instructions."
Wragge & Co has no salaried partners and the director role requires the highest levels of expertise, skill and contribution to the business. Responsibilities can include managing client relationships, business development or leading a particular practice area.
This year, Munich-based IP specialist Alex Bayer, construction expert Sue Ryan and pensions specialist Paul Carberry were promoted to the partnership. Corporate partner David Marshall also joined Wragge & Co from Travers Smith in March, enhancing the firm's corporate finance and private equity capability.
Other Wragge & Co highlights include the opening of its 10-partner Paris office. The firm has also scooped a series of awards, such as the hat-trick of wins at Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence 2010.
It was also the only law firm to appear in the Best Workplaces list of the UK's top 50 employers, gaining 'Master' status for appearing in 10 consecutive lists. Other achievements include two coveted awards for the Pensions team, and being crowned number one national firm in Legal Week's Client Satisfaction report.
