Wragge & Co has promoted three new directors in its full-service Energy team. Playing a key role in the development of the firm's energy practice, the sector-focused trio are Gareth Baker, Helen Emmerson and Gus Wood.

Head of the cross-firm Energy team Derek Goodban said: "With first-rate specialist industry knowledge, technical expertise and dedication to stand-out client service, Gareth, Helen and Gus are ideal candidates to boost the continued expansion of our full-service energy practice."

Gus is experienced in providing commercial and regulatory advice in the energy sector - particularly in renewables and waste-to-energy projects. He takes a leading role in innovative, ground-breaking instructions from major energy clients including E.ON and Partnerships for Renewables. Gus is currently advising the Waste Recycling Group on its bid for the Lincolnshire energy-from-waste project.

Real estate specialist Helen has established herself as an integral part of the cross-firm Energy team. She advises both landowners and energy generators such as E.ON and Partnerships for Renewables on real estate aspects of complex projects.

Corporate director Gareth advises energy clients such as BP and AMEC on the full range of corporate matters. Experience includes advising BP plc on its US $400 million biofuels investment deal with Associated British Fuels and DuPoint. He also advised AMEC on its joint venture arrangements for its successful consortium bid to decommission the Sellafield nuclear site.

Gus Wood added: "Being up to speed with developments in this fast moving sector is crucial. With an anticipated £200 billion investment in energy infrastructure before 2020, there are continued opportunities for involvements in cutting-edge projects. It's an exciting time to demonstrate the full-service expertise of our established energy practice."

Wragge & Co's Energy team boasts market-leading experience in the renewable energy sector. It comprises a team of regulatory, construction, corporate, real estate and finance experts. This approach means clients - whether generators, distributors, suppliers, traders or customers - receive practical, commercial solutions from lawyers with an in-depth knowledge of the international energy sector. Highlights include playing a leading role in the establishment of a new wholesale electricity market for the island of Ireland.
