Wragge & Co seals deal behind E.ON's new Nottingham office

28.07.10

Wragge & Co's real estate experts have advised E.ON on the deal behind its new, £30 million Nottingham office. In a back-to-back deal, Nottingham City Council has agreed to sell its former Treasury Building offices to Miller Birch. The developer will demolish them and build a nine storey state-of the-art, environmentally sustainable office, leased to E.ON.

The 105,000 sq ft scheme has received planning permission from Nottingham City Council. When complete in 2012, it will be home to 800 Nottingham-based E.ON employees. It will also be Nottingham's greenest office building, with a BREAAM excellent rating and EPC 'A' certificate, using the Building Approved Inspectors (Amendment) Regulations 2010, which are yet to become mandatory.

Real estate partner Jack Jacovou, supported by director Helen Emmerson, led a team comprising specialists in planning, construction, tax and public law. They worked closely with E.ON's property manager Mark Maisey and Chantal Thomas, legal counsel at E.ON. Geldards LLP partner Jamie Gordon acted for Miller Birch.

Jack Jacovou said: "This is an excellent project to have been involved in - a large, complex property transaction for a longstanding and valued client. The new office will provide E.ON employees with superb accommodation and the greenest building in the city."
